Default Jag newbie Just want to introduce myself.

Hi everybody. One week ago today I became the proud new owner of a 2004 X-Type 2.5 manual. She's a one owner, 76,000 mile British Racing Green looker. My old car died on me and I needed a replacement FAST. This little Jag caught my eye and I took a chance and bought it. I didn't know much about this car when I bought it (breaking my own rules of used car buying) but after availing myself of this fine forum for a few days I'm feeling much better about the purchase.
I just wanted to say thank you to all the forum members here that have, through their gracious sharing of their experience, given me a crash course in X-type ownership and what to look out for. Y'all rock!

Welcome to the Forums. I think you will find lots of good information here, especially if you are willing to do some work on the vehicle yourself. Sounds like you got a pretty good vehicle. Something you will want to figure out is what month it was made in. The reason why I say that is that in 2004, Jaguar did a major change to the X-Type mid year. So, if you have a car made in/before March 2004, then you have the early style car. If you have after March 2004, then you have the updated version. The big things that changed was the numbering of the fuse box, the type of transfer case in the car, and the rear brake calipers/pads. Most of the other things that I can think of didn't really change other than a numbering inside the fuse box.

Thanks for the info. I just checked the manufacture date: 01/04. I'm changing the oil tomorrow and will be changing the other fluids as soon as possible. I've already ordered the Volvo upper rear control arms as well as lower rear control arms. This car seems to be fairly typical. The A and C pillars need some attention as well as the AC blowing hot air when idling. That last bit ain't much fun sitting in traffic in Savannah this time of year so I'm hoping the TSB fix I read about will take care of it. Once again, thanks for the info.
