Jaguar x type headlight system

You do not indicate where you are (nor any other helpful information). If you are in Canada or elsewhere but have a Canadian market car then yes, depending on model year, the headlamps and every other exterior lamp will be on, always -and the dash lights too. This applies to the 2002 to 2004? cars. By 2005 the system still has all exterior lights on always, but not the dash lights (because this makes the display dimmer and more difficult to see in daylight). All of this is a product of the daytime running light system mandated by Canadian law, and it is perfectly normal. If your car is one of the early models mentioned, it means that you never have to touch the light switch.

Braydon, yes. In short, Jaguar has 3 different headlight switches that they use for various markets. In your case, since your car was intended for Canada, it has the canadian headlight switch (the 2 others are Scandinavian (headlights work in the OFF and ON positions, but off in the parking light position) and the non-DRL version (ie, headlights off unless in the ON or AUTO position, side lights on in any position than off).

Yes - your lights, ALL your lights, are on all the time - that is correct for your Canadian car. You never need to touch the light switch unless you need to turn on the front or rear fog lamps. But your car is a Jaguar, not a BMW, so you won't be using the blinding fog lamps unless there is fog, right?
