I got mine installed yesterday and am loving it. I am thinking of moding the bottom part of the intake box to try to keep some of the heat out. What do you guys think? No lid, just the bottom of the air box. Your guys input would be great. Also, love the little growl that it get at high rpms. Also I am trying to track down a 3"X4 1/2" rubber tube to get rid of the flexible piece to let the air flow smoothly. With that said, where does that "little" plastic tube run? It runs towards the firewall, but not sure where from there or even if it is needed. In my experiece with LS1's that is another pice that adds hp and growl to the motor. Not sure how much it would add to the Jag, but free flowing air is good air!!!

Where does this straight mount to, I saw this on Amazon.com, it was pretty cheap and it is the exact same pic and part. But looking at my engine My MAS is on the the drivers side, at least one is and there is the bellows rubber with a rubber hose running from it. then the airbox. I am guessing once U get the airbox off this goes in this place? Why can't you connect the filter to this pipe it is short and sweet. ![Icon Bike](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_bike.gif)

I'm into mine about $170 now with the $130 ebay kit + $40 for the larger filter. ugh.
So I went to O'Reilly's today and discovered all the components for making an intake from Spectre (also on Amazon)...
1. Spectre Mass Airflow Sensor straight pipe $13.99
I love the shine on the engine, what did you use to get that shine. I use Groits Engine brite and it doesn't shine like yours. Thanks!

2. Spectre 90 degree bend pipe $10.99
![](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41D2DD1RXJL._SL500_AA300_.jpg)
3. Spectre 10" cone filter $39.99

4. Spectre bracket kit $5.99

The MAF piece has 3 adapter pieces for any type of MAF, so use the right one. You can use a different filter if you want to save money or do a smaller one. Finished product looks like this:

I even removed the baffle as well (discussed in various threads separately).

Here is my new Spectre intake. It cost me under $50 from Amazon. It was a fairly easy installation and it does add a nice sound that goes well with the Mina exhaust. I also have a temporary heat shield under it to block some of the heat from the engine. Thanks exepat for the reference and information.

I did this purely for my thirst of high horsepower and speed!
just kidding - these cars will never be fast.
As evidenced throughout the thread, this is no performance mod and is almost purely cosmetic.

What is that black plastic piece? I saw it on somebody elses picture, too. I'm assuming it came on some model X's and not mine? Can anybody shed some light on this?
