letter from jaguar usa
just got an envelope in the mail today from jaguar usa. inside was a letter telling me i am part of a complimentary recall on key fobs. it tells me to come in for a free appointment for reprogramming and a free car inspection. anyone else get one of these?
and also, 3 little flyers were in there as well.
first one is advertising the ACM (audio connectivity module) installed for $$252 + 1 hour of labor. says that you can connect ipod, mp3 platers or usb - looks like you get at least 2 connectors.
second one is advertising RSCS (resr seat connectivity system). this one installs in what looks like the rear of the center console, and has 2 sets of rca-style audio and video input. also included in this are two 7" monitors installed in the headrests. cost is $1499.00 + 2 hours labor.
third little item was a coupon for 10% off and jaguar vehicle accessory, with the exception of the ACM and RSCS.
all offers expire 12/31/06. too bad i already have the arden grilles and the ACM is the only accessory i want at the present time.

Neither of my fobs have worked for some time. When I called the dealer about a month ago, I was told that replacements were unavailable, keep checking. So I was very pleased when I received the letter offering to correct the problem (We'll see). Hope to get to the dealer this week.

wow.. that is good news to hear. i called several jag dealers and they all told me the same thing - that global close was only an option on 03 and mewer x-typs. i was told 04 and beyond only have the option with the key in the door, turn to the right and hold for 2-3 seconds, which does work. mine goes in tomorrow morning for the key fob thing and i am having the ACM installed as well.

i called my dealer here in pasadena and they said the labour would be 2.5 hrs.
they said they didn't care what the letter said thats how long it would take. so labour was an additional $280.
i didn't do it but sounds kind of fraudulant.
does anyone have a dealer they would recommend for the LA area?

ya, that is a complete lie. i had the ACS installed and was only charged for one hour of labor. i would call jaguar direct and file a complaint. 1-800-4JAGUAR.
i have to admit- the sound quality is awesome using the usb interface. i do have all my files encoded at 192 or higher, and the sound is much better than from a cd.

Ah, well that explains that....i checked the TSB for my car and didn't see it there either....thought maybe my Jag dealer forgot about me

just a heads up about the ACM. you can have as many directories of mp3's (via a usb key) as you like, but it is limited to 51 tracks per directory. i found a great deal on a 6gig key and i currently have about 600 songs broken down over 12 directories and loving every minute.

What is "global close"? By the way, Torstr, is your Pasadena dealer Rusnak, by any chance? If so, find another dealer. Rusnak is notorious for overcharging or charging for services that are supposed to be covered. This applies to all his dealerships - Jag, Volvo, Jeep, Audi, etc. I've dealt with all of these. I get great deals on the cars I buy from them, but after sale service is the absolute worse when it comes to taking care of the customer. I just moved from Glendora, CA to Northern Virginia, and the Jaguar dealer here is nothing to write home about either. Fortunately, since I worked on my fob some time ago, I haven't needed a dealer for anything else.

Global closing is where the windows will close if left open when locking the car.
See section 2-6 of this owners guide for info.
For those without adobe:-
Place a key in the driver’s door lock, turn the key towards the rear of the vehicle and hold in this position for longer than 1½ seconds to close all the electrically operated windows (and sunroof, if fitted).Note: Ensure that manually operated rear windows are fully closed by hand (if fitted).
You can also globally close the car with the fob double pressing the lock button on the fob and on the 2nd press holdthe lock button down for more than 3 seconds.
