Default lights and oxidation

my headlights have serious oxidation problems mostly on the inside so when the lights are on you can see all the light trying to shine through the thick layer of translucent substance. Any advice to on how to fix it other than buying a new pair. also my rear fender lights, the red ones on the bumper (both of them) arent working even after replacing bulbs. maybe a fuse problem? =/

bleh so many problems on my jag lol

If you mean the lens is oxidised/pitted a paint cutting solution such as T-cut may polish them smooth. If not very fine wet or dry paper say 1200 grade used wet with a little soap first should help speed up the process.

The lens' are no doubt made from polycarbonate, a relatively soft polymer which is also effected by UV light.

Foggy headlights:

Rear bumper markers:
Could be a fuse, but not likely.. Most likely corroded sockets.. somewhat of a common issue for XJs

If these two issues and your noisy shocks are the only problems you're having with your X-type, consider yourself lucky..

thanks for all the links. imma try that sanding technique and see if it works. but i have no doubt that the problem is on the inside because ive tried rubbing the 3m solution on the outside. the rear marker light is not a big deal but it bothers me when im driving a jag and stuff dont work the way it should =/

oxidation, rear marker light, and clunking shocks arent the only problem im having haha. my brakes are starting to squeel, not sure which one exactly. the front passanger door sometime refuses to open from the inside and out. i got a whisker on the rear driver side popping out and dangling there. i also have some rust under the front bumper, the bit of strip (i think its for parking stones) is all dented and scratched =/ and it wasnt me who did it.. i can park. ill post some pics of my pos car when i get the chance

The only problem with removing the UV protection coat is that the polycarbonate lens will likely discolour (yellow) and become more brittle with time. Perhaps using the lens covers that someone posted the other day would help prevent this after polishing.
