Default limp mode BS...

So my brother bought a 2003 x type jaguar and it has been nothing but trouble...The car goes into limp mode every time you drive it....the trouble codes are p1000 p1316 and p1313...He took it to the jaguar dealer in Louisville ky and after $1600 and 3 days they effectively accomplished nothing...so far the car has had a intake manifold, spark plugs, all coils, mass air flow sensor, and a new computer....none of which helped the problem....Hes about at the end of his rope with this car and it has us all scratching out heads....if anyone has any ideas/suggestions we would really appreciate the help...thanks guys..

When they installed the spark plugs did they gap them or just throw them in right out of the box? P131x is a misfire on cylinder x, 3 and 6 in your case.
How are the wires to the plugs, bad wire can also cause a missfire.

Pugs:
I've been working through a similar problem, i believe mine is due to oil coating the 1,3,5 side Catalytic Converter, it was a gradual clogging in my opinion... the rear cat is a bear to pull and i hate the idea of pulling something for no good reason. My local mechanic had a brilliant little idea for me to try. Pull the upper O2 sensor from the 1,3,5 side. leave it plugged in, put it somewhere safe on the intake and go for a drive in your neighborhood. When i did this i was able to easily hold revs at over 5 grand down our 1/4 mile long street (kept it in second) what we proved by doing this, is, without excess back pressure from the clogged cat, she ran perfectly... As it happenes mine is in the shop today getting a refurb cat installed

Hey pugs, sounds like a bad cat. Mine also did the same thing. I changed the PCV HOSE on the top going into the intake and the cat. I changed mine and It runs like a new car. I got the cat for 326 bucks from a guy in ny. He makes them. Perfect fit no bending or welding. All I did was drop the undercarage and the strut towers and pulled it out from the passenger side wheel. Took me about 4 hours but saved me hundreds. Let me know I will find that guys # for u

honestly i don't know if they set the gap on them or not...the dealer installed the plugs...we did however inspect all the wires and found no problems there..

You might want to look into this method.

My Mechanic pulled the cat today... he found the guts had broken up & were the cause of the excess back pressure...

Same issue with mine. The cat burned up from the amount of heat and raw fuel . Glad to know you will be fixed and on the road in no time!
