Default little cracks in leather?

I cleaned my leather last night and first off I have a 2007 xtype with the luxury pack and the cream leather. And I noticed a bunch of little cracks starting to form from me getting in and put of the car. Is there anything you can do to get rid of these cracks or fill then in before they get bigger. Or would I just have to replace the one strip of leather?
Thanks for any help,
Mike.

Mike, find some stuff called "Connelly Hide Food". This is what all the professionals use and it will soften the leather back up and may allow the cracks/creases to flatten out. You simply lather this product on to the seat surface (anything leather), let it set for a little bit, then wipe it off. Not the cheapest stuff, but supposed to the best you can get.

@ Thermo

The leather on the passenger seat lost a bit of its softness as I drive alone almost all the time and the passenger seat is empty.

I use Prolong Super Protectant to care about the interior parts but the passenger seat leather still a little bit firm. Actually I bought the car with it (I bet the previous owner did not carry much passengers).

So, should the Connolly help to get the softness back?

If you do some more reading in the relevant threads, you will learn that the finish is actually a urethane coating. Once you understand the material, it becomes easier to decide on its care.

The leather used for automotive upholstery is not oil tanned except for a few notable exceptions. It would be nice if it was, but it is not.

Nardo, from the members that have used it, they all say that the leather was softer when all done. While I have not used this particular product, I have recently used the Meguiar's Leather Care and I liked the results. So, that may be another options since the Connolly is not as readily available as the Meguiar's product is.

There are several good leather products for maintaining the supple feel of the of the leather. I got a great leather dye kit off ebay from a place in England that is a perfect match and will dye the cracks so they do not show at all. I have the ivory leather mine. I use the creme to keep it supple and the dye to hide any cracks. My leather looks brand new in my 2005. The only problem I ever had was the bolster on the driver's side where you get in and out.

@plums So our cars have a urethane coating on the leather? If so the purpose of the leather conditioning kits, i.e. Maguiar's, would be to keep the coating on and protect the leather?

I assume the ScuffMaster Liquid Leather would work on steering wheels as well... Yes?

I've had nothing but awesome results with Leatherique. It's a bit $$$, but well worth it. You basically SOAK your seats with it, lather, and then leave the car with the windows shut, in the sun's heat, for about 2 days. I used to use it once a year on my previous SAAB. The Jag's seats have been holding up just fine with Autoglym leather care balm.

Hi, I have used the glyptone set of products on my 1999 XK8. The drivers seat was in poor condition and is the oatmeal colour. I used the scuffmaster to effectively repaint and seal the seat and other wear marks on the interior. The colour match is perfect. It has added a lot of value to the car as the interior looks almost like new. There are a few crease lines which cannot go away without replacement, but they all look the same colour as the rest of the interior which now looks lovely. I have used these products for years now on various cars and I have found the makers claims to be true. The drivers bolster was awful but now looks great

I just applied my first coat of scuff master on my 2002 x type with sand interior. Cleaning it brought out all of the little cracks and I got nervous but after that first coat of dye, you can tell that the cracks are starting to fill and it's looking good so far. Thanks tarheel72!

Default Leather Care

Greetings. Like "Thermo," I use Mequiar's Leather Care. I begin the process by gently brushing off the seats (dust, dirt, lint) then I actually use Turtle Wax Leather cleaner, then the Mequiar's. When I apply the Mequiar's, I do let it sit for about one minute before I gently rub it into the surface. That seems to do the trick and the cracks on my driver's seat has actually diminished. (Will that work on the wrinkles around my eyes?) Good luck!

Well i applied maybe 3 coats and then through some conditioner on them and they turned out great. I hadnt taken care of the seats very much at all and it showed. There was a lot of wear on the bolsters and cracks in the middle of the seat. After the dye, they are in like-new condition. That stuff works great
