Unhappy Locked Doors and Flat Battery

As the title I parked my X type Estate up around a month ago and when I came to start it at the weekend the battery was completely flat (the locking remote doesn't unlock the doors) so I tried the drivers door with the key and the door doesn't open. Neither key works annoyingly.

What are my options for getting in without putting a window in? Is there another hidden key slot that I've missed?

Tia, Hamish

On my 06 S type there is a connection in the front right hand wheel well by the firewall where you can attach a battery to your charger to it and it’ll be enough to power the car to open the doors with the remote. Take the wheel off and the wheel well liner in the back behind the wheel and you probably have one too

Can you reach the starter motor from underneath? There is a direct connection to the battery from there.

Failing that call a breakdown service with an inflatable wedge to pry the door for access.

Am I missing something here. ? I thought that that when the battery was disconnected or flat the key would still manually lock or unlock the driver's door ;just not the central locking.

My X-Type driver door lock was really sticky when I bought it. I thought it didn't work. Try putting a bit more muscle into it. It really doesn't turn as easily as other cars. Turn counter clock wise to unlock.

You need to put some lock lubricant on the key and work it gently several times, lock and unlock until it functions as designed.

As the lock/unlock is an electrically driven relay/motor, you need power to unlock the doors with key fob or key. So follow Nori's advice to power it from underneath.

Are you sure Dell. I seem to remember being able to just lock and unlock the drivers door only manually with the key with the battery disconnected when I had a bit if trouble with the interior lights staying on in one of my X types a few years ago.
Although I may well be wrong as the memory ain't what it was.

if you have a lock and a key and if you didnt double lock the car then the key should unlock the door

if this is true then the only alternative is to get power to it and if you dont have a power terminal accessible (like in the wheel well of my S type) then jack it up and power it off the big 12v line going to the starter. Thats probably your only other way.

As I remember it I was having trouble with my interior light staying on and I couldn't get round to sorting it for a few days.I disconnected the battery to stop it going flat and I;m sure I manually locked and unlocked the driver's door with the key.
That;s how I remember it but as I say my memory could be playing tricks. Am tempted to nip outside and try it now but a bit wary that if I'm wrong I end up locking myself out of the car.

well that’s good news because if you disconnected the battery, then there’s no way you could’ve accidentally double locked the doors because that will need an electrical power source. So if the door was locked with a key that key should be able to unlock it and you shouldn’t have to worry about accidentally locking yourself out by double looking. Got the batteries disconnected go and try the key in both the door and the trunk. We’re all waiting anxiously.

It's too dark here now to be messing on the drive but if I get chance in the next few days I might give it a try out of curiosity.
Have seen elsewhere on here and other forums where people have manually locked and unlocked the driver's door with the key when the battery is disconnected . I wonder of it just applies to UK spec cars.
