Locking & Alarm Problems
So my X-type seems to be showing some erratic behavior with the alarm going off at odd times. For example, today I pulled into the gas station, opened the door, which unlocked all the doors, and went to fill it up. When I opened the door to get back in, the alarm went off. This sort of thing has been happening more often lately. It seems when I unlock the car by opening the door from the inside, then go to get back in (without locking it at any point), the alarm will go off. If I click unlock on the keyfob the alarm stops immediately. Not sure what's going on here but it's getting somewhat annoying. I hope someone has some ideas on this.

Failing lock/unlock actuator on one of the doors perhaps. Or maybe the batteries in alarm sounder are dying.

Gry opening all of the doors and liberally spraying WD-40 into the locking area. Then open and close each door manually 3 or 4 times. See if that clears it up for you. It may just be a sticking micro-switch in the locking mechanism. Mine used to do that during the cold Nebraska winters. Doesn't seem to be a problem here in Las Vegas.

Thanks, I will try that. I'm not sure why the panic alarm would go off when the door is opened since the security system is not armed (no blinking light on the console, doors unlocked.) Maybe there is problem with the security module. I'm wondering if I should also try disconnecting the battery and rebooting the ECU. Also, could this be a symptom of a weak battery?
