First, I am sorry for the families involved in the story above.

It is sad when people drive too fast (kids especially) for the road conditions. While the Jag is a stout vehicle I would also have no concerns about the Subaru in general. The example is extreme and tragic.

I continue looking for a vehicle. There just aren't many cars (except Subaru) in my immediate area. I have put the Jag on the secondary list, my first choice now is an Audi A6.

I would still go for the Jag if the right vehicle popped up and the right time! Birthday is in May so I am being patient at this point

If we boil it all down maintenance is relative to the state its currently in and its a car so things can go wrong at any time...some have to replace bigger parts that cost quite a bit of cheddar...others don't. I have had my X-Type for 7 months now and havent replaced a thing on it...well did the plugs and intake gaskets but that was not necessary just preventative (did it for $80 and was pretty easy), insurance wise it was not difference to mine. I have Geico and they do not classify it as a sports car so maybe others are different..

I had a Ford Probe as my first car...put my fair share of dings in it but I appreciated the car and took good care of it when I could so it taught me to appreciate being able to drive and car maintenance....

I have had quite a few cars...to list 89 Ford Probe, 94 Honda Accord, 07 Scion TC, 08 Scion TC, 04 Acura TL, 03 Cadillac CTS, 03 Nissan Altima, 04 Dodge Ram HEMI, 01 GMC Sonoma, and now my 03 X-Type...so I know a little something about maintenance

So far the X-Type has been easy to work on and I have enjoyed the luxury portion of it...seems to actually calm me while driving. Anyhow, again maintenance is relative to its current state so it could be as simple as replacing rotors or an engine...just depends...they are machines
