Cool Love to know the miles on your Jag

I am the proud and very satisfied owner of a 2002 Jag X-Type... which has 255,000 miles on it. I hope to keep this car maintained and hopefully cross 500K miles (one day).

Would love to know... of others, the mileage on your cars... and is there someone or some-site that keeps track of people's claims on the mileage on their cars.

The little news I have seen on this... there is a 1962/63 ?? volvo owner - who has approx. 2.9 million miles on his car. So am curious... as to the mileage records that Jag owners are boasting about.

Will post a pic of the car on this forum... in the next few days.

Cheers !!

How much did the Jag cost you during those 225k miles? Are you the original owner? That's very impressive. Mine only has 114k miles on it.

Mines a 2005 X-Type with 63'000kms / 39'000mi.

My mate Thomas has a 2004 S-Type 2.7D with 380'000kms / 236'000mi on it, and he says it doesn't use any oil!

2001 plate x-type 3 litre V6 4WD. Done 120,000 miles to date and still purring. Just replaced rear bushes, fitted k&n air filter and service the car myself- joy of having such a well built car!

112,000 miles here.

I can't say they have been trouble free. Plenty of things have gone wrong. However, there have been no major expenses.

I repaired my transfer case prop shaft bearings myself. Total expense was well less than $200!

The most expensive failure was the throttle body.

Hi AML... interestingly.... my Jag has been relatively trouble free and inexpensive to maintain. Except for regular service (oil change, spark plugs, brakes/brake pads, etc.).... I have not had to do any major repair on the car. No work on the engine, transmission or other major components.

This is inspite of a major accident that my teen-age son had while driving it...in early 2010. At the time of the accident, the car had 201,000 miles on it and being 8-9 year old... the insurance company wanted to junk it. Fortunately, the damage was limited to seemingly body damage.... and I took the risk of getting it fixed on my own dime. Now the car has 255,000 miles on it... so an additional 51,000 miles since the accident... and the engine, transmission still sounds like new.

Since the accident.... I did have a coolant leak... which also required a water pump change... which cost me about $1100. So that is the only major mechanical failure and extra-ordinary expense... that I have had on the Jag. Currently, my A/C is not working properly... which according to my mechanic has to do with a malfunctioning control valve.

So over-all... even I am very impressed with the performance of the car... especially considering the historic reputation of Jag's having major maintenance issues.

i just crossed the 62K miles yesterdayand all in all am loving it. bought it used with 48K on it. Its an 03 2.5L auto xtype.
I have only had the ff changed; a battery and -ve battery cable, fan module, rear bushings and a bad fuse which was the cause of my overheating.

My 2004 just turned 79k miles this past week. I picked it up with 43k a little over 3 years ago. Only expensive, non-routine, items I have had done are the oil pan gasket needed to be replaced, but was done right away at no cost to me by the dealer I bought it from and then I had a speed sensor replaced. I've been really impressed with this car overall. Even though what I have seen about the new XF as far as maintenance and repairs is not good I still would consider buying one.

I have 107k miles on my 2002. However, I just bought it, and I rarely drive - plus I just bought a truck.

Wow, 200K+ miles, that's very encouraging since I plan on keeping mine until it dies. I've got only about 41K right now on my `06 (orig owner).

The more years and more mileage I put on the car only means less of an argument with the Mrs when time comes to trade it in for an AMG something waaay down the road :-)

2003 x type w 125k miles. Runs great. My only concern is the common rust issue in door jams right behind the front wheel. It is looking pretty bad, my baby has been through some tough Chicago winters.
