I live in chicago too... I have rust in the same spot.. i was just going to knock it out by putting one of those sanders drill bits on the drill. Sand it out and add the body repair soulotion and repaint... Good to go.

Had my 2004 X Type for exactly three weeks today. Came to me as a one owner car with 35,000 miles and a clean Carfax. So far-so great!

The clock shows 151,000 miles on my '02 manual box 2.5 base X-Type. I am owner #2. The first owner kept it up reasonably well. I've had to address the usual stuff-intake gaskets, control arms, bent wheels, door handle adjustment, and "Ain't that really just a Ford?"... 200,000+ miles looks fairly EZ to attain with these cars as long as one stays ahead on the maintenence and remembers that these Jags are 25mpg cruisers... let the 3.8 E-Type's and XK/XJ-R's do the ground pounding. Cheers, Andy

2002 X-Type 2.5. 68000 miles. Basically thats why i bought it. It runs great. Still have an ABS light, and the sunroof refuses to open. But It's a fun car. Lots of admiring looks also.

Default 2003 Just Turned Over 80K

I am the third owner of my 2003 Jag X Type 2.5. I've been looking at these cars since 2004 when I took a 2002 Jag 3.0 home for a "24 Hour Test Drive." My other vehicle is a 2007 Mazda3 Five Door (my second Mazda). Someone in this forum mentioned rust. I've had my car thoroughly looked over and so far (where is that wood?) no rust. I plan to keep this as long as I can and as long as it does not "nickel and dime" me!

162k on a 2003 X-Type AWD. I have issues with it, but nothing major with the engine or tranny.
