Manual gear box oil top up
Hello,
Can anyone help? I'm wanting to check the level of oil in my manual gear box and if needed top it up. I've a 2.5L x-type from 2003. I can find lots of tips for the auop box but none for the manual.
Can someone tell me where the plug is located and how I go about checking the oil level. Photos would be great!
Regards
Tom

Hey thomas,
The drain plug is located towards the bottom of the case (not facing downwards as one would expect). If you access from under the drive side wheel-well area you should see it. The fill plug is located on the front of the case (facing the radiator) about half way up. It took me some extra time to find the drain plug. If I remember correctly the drain plug has the usual metric bolt head, and the fill plug a 1/4 drive. This is a really easy car to change the gear fluid out on. I recommend flushing it since it is so simple and easy to access. When you fill the final time, just make sure the car is level. When the fluid comes out the fill hole, you are topped up.
