Well, life over the last year or so has been pretty busy with a new mini-me to look after in addition to the existing mini-me and crazy work schedule. My limited contributions to this site have consequently dwindled to almost zero but I wanted to let folks know that the bright red x wagon is about to go forth on its final journey. I have two weeks left of ownership before I move back to the UK. The jag (which my daughter has now nicknamed the "Fluffy Red Devil") - has very advanced tin worm on the jacking rail and sills and at various other places. With 307,000km, the car is most likely going to get scrapped which is a shame as it is still a perfect runner with no codes, looks not at all bad (esp. from a distance) and has a pretty decent interior (they really wear well).
Anyway - the real purpose of this post is to let folks know that I am incredibly grateful to all (but especially the moderators and others who contribute so much to the running of the site) because the knowledge and info gained here has been invaluable in helping me keep fluffy going over the last 6 years in a somewhat affordable way (in fact, whenever I pay anything for maintenance or repair, her indoors regular as clockwoek informs me about how cheap a Honda or a Nissan might have been ......... and I keep showing her the same slightly anally retentive spreadsheet that has our car all in at $0.55 cents/km - almost bang on the same the same as a .........Toyota Camry (according to CAA).
The Jag has been superb - versatile and so good and secure in our winters here. Just last week, it was loaded up for a camping trip and had a canoe strapped to the roof and was more than happy at highway speed++. Barely no change in handling or performance.
Happy days, and who knows - I may be back with another jagwag - the uk XF wagon looks pretty tasty!!
Best of luck to all!
Dan
