It's ok but he's got way more money than me so I've got to try and keep up. He's already an Arden bodykit and twin exit Arden exhausts ahead of me. He's got a 2003 2.5 AWD with 15K on the clocks, immaculate condition. Got it for £2,500, the woman had been made reduntant and needed quick money, Jammy b*stard! LOL

Meemo, I am interested in more info on the 2009 X Type lower chrome grille insert you installed. Is this a simple change out or do you havt to modify the existing space in any way? I have a 2005 and think that might look nice with the chrome fins in the upper grille. I assume you got it at the dealer since you said you work there but do you know the retail cost or another source that would be cheaper? Thanks.

hes more of a caddy fan, but when he got his 89cady fleetwood, it only had 200 hp, froma v8 and was a complete pos, its always broke down, or was leaking. So he refused to buy another luxury car, and just stuck with gm's normal line up, me however, am the opposite, i will fight tot he death with any probelm with me car lol. My dads pretty loaded, but i gotta save for the stuff i put into the car, he DOES not like me toying with it AT ALLL, or dumping money on to it.

It was like that for 2 years on my C70, so I don't think too much about it:

I gotta say exexpat, I love everything about your car, except for the new side piece. But, only because they dont appear to be color matched exactly, and because they don't hug the body well enough. There appears to be a gap by the wheel arches on the front side. But the wheels, the side markers, the grill, the front valance, the reverse lights, everything else is great!

Thanks. The color is exact, but since it is at a different angle, it looks darker in some photos and lighter in others. This is the same with the front spoiler. I agree with the front gap and have a couple of ideas, but I still think I'll keep that piece.

Can I have more details about your wheel fitment please? They are what 20x8 with a 215? tire. The sidewall looks completely stretched, and the entire wheel lip is poking out. But it looks freaking awesome. How does it ride? Are you paranoid of hitting a pothole?

Thanks. The front is 20x8.5 ET42 (I think) and the rear is 20x9.5 ET47. Tires are 235/30/20 on all four corners to keep the AWD system happy. There is no material difference in overall diameter of a stretched vs. non-stretched tire, trust me.

^Did you say that running a 245/30 20 rear would cause issues? I need to order my tires...

exexpat - please forgive if you have already covered this elsewhere - but I noticed the Brembo logo on the calipers. Did you install aftermarket Brembo calipers, or did you snag a set from an STR and modified to fit? Would you mind sharing your source (even by PM) if you did find some aftermarket? How's the performance?

They look very nice, btw. The rims look nice too, wouldn't last long around here (roads are garbage) but that's not your problem. You have a unique X, which is why most of us drive them anyway.

I see the watchful eyes of your purple octopus kite enjoy the view too.

You could do it with a 10" wheel if you plan on 235 up front on 8.5. They won't be perfectly matched OD, but damn close. AWD usually can live with around 1% variance and traction control sensoring will let you know if it doesn't like the OD variance before you damage your drivetrain.

Hey MeeMo, cool thread you started. I was noticing your high flow air filter under the hood, the cone shape looks like it pulls in a lot of air. Have you seen performance gains from this? ...........It looks like it's pulling hot air from the engine compartment.

I modified my air box recently and added a third cold air pick up. I have noticed a little more pull when I accelerate, low rpms, hi rpms, pretty much across the board. Seems like the engine was a little starved for air before, notwithstanding the two stock cold air tubes. notwithstanding ????
Here is a pic of the bottom half of the air box with my tube added.Name: 1024102139.jpg

Below you can see the new hose at the left. Inside diameter = 2" or 5cm.

Total cost: $20 + your time. I did this one at my desk at home with a hole saw bit, a drill, and a tube of clear silicon adhesive. Of course I also had to find the right piece of hose, I think it a radiator hose for a bigger engine.

I took care to seal the air box with the silicon so it would not pull in hot air from the engine compartment. Anyway, my engine is a little more assertive...Dig IT!
