Motor oil
#5
0w30 is still a 30 weight oil when hot. THe 0 flows much better then 5 in the winter months at start up and that is what protects it from lock of oil in the head at start up. 0w30 is not in the manual becuase only way to get a 0w30 oil is by having synthetic oil and to lower the ownership costs for the first 3 years they run regular cheap dino oil.

I know it has been said but I also highly caution using anything but 5w30....the j-gate is extreamly sensitive to viscosity changes...try to get jagtech or someone like thermo to chirp in here to be sure ,,but i would not use anything but 5w30...synthetic or the reg stuff is a personal choice

Ford specs a 5w20 for their duratech motor. I know our heads are a little different but I bet you a mil that running a 5w20 or 0w20 will not do anything to the motor but increase your mpg. Like I said before 0w oil only flows better then a 5w in the winter months, it has nothing to do with the performace of the 30 weight when hot. If you live in the south it will not matter if you use 0w 5w or 10w oil if you are in canada or alaska and see -30f in the winter you will not be able to find a better then a 0w ( unless you can find -10w10 oil). Its all about the flow of oil when really cold. When hot they all are 30 weight oils and perform exactly the same.
If you run your oild like jag says every 10k miles I would not use anything but good synthetic. If you are unsure go to bobistheoilguy and just read...

Funny how things work out, some one just posted a question on what the difference is between 0w30 and 5w30 and what is better... Enjoy.

I dont think that the engine oil is going to affect the J-Gate.
