MP3 Player / Smartphone AUX Audio Input Accessory
I wanted to share a neat product I just had installed to allow me to listen to music and podcasts from my Android smartphone - the Simple Tranzit USB:
TranzIt USB IS32 - Universal Car Integration Kit for Smartphones, MP3 Players
It allows the connection of a 3.5mm AUX cable from your MP3 player or smartphone to the factory audio system. I had it professionally installed, so I can't comment about that - but it was very cost effective, only $200 installed. I can say it sounds great for both podcasts and music (unlike an older FM transmitter I used with an iPod). I'm using it to connect my LG Optimus Android smartphone to my 2005 X-Type with Navigation. I even had the shop install it where the factory ashtray is and when it's not in use the device and cable are discretely hidden behind the flip up door.
I originally considered the Jaguar ACM module, but balked at the price. I then considered the Parrot Bluetooth kit, as mentioned on the forums, but found the $200-$300 device price quickly ballooned to nearly $600 installed as the Parrot only allows for 4 speakers and all the additional speakers have to be isolated with relays, which adds a number of additional parts and a significantly more time consuming install.
So for anyone looking for another option to connect an MP3 player or smartphone, I highly recommend it!

I have the ACM but I put a Belkin CarAudio ConnectAUX in the glove box plugged into that 12V outlet in the glove box. It works great even with the glovebox closed. I never mess with it. It's no Microsft Sync System but it's great to just connect the bluetooth without any wires. It would work well with a 3.5mm AUX installed in the glove box.
