MY LAST RESORT HELP ME GET MY HEADLIGHTS COVERED BY SELECT EDITION
I need the forum to help me here. I been kinda upset with the way Jaguar handles issues
regarding warranty, and these rediculous diag fees when they premote Select Edition as a
$0 Deductible program, I find this is not the case, and there are some misrepresentations. I really like my Jaguar S-Type R, but Im just so use to driving a Benz, where everything was much easier to do, and I had lots of help from Benz Forums when I had issues since there is over 140K Members on Benzworld, and Mbworld combined. On this Jag forum theirs only 2500 members. But I need Select Edition to replace my headlight assemblies under warranty. I have the HID pointing low problem like many people who have HIDS the auto-adjust feature or sensors breaks internally. Several members say that they got their dealership, and select edition to cover the headlights and replace them with new ones. Thats what I want to do, but my dealer says headlighs are not covered under warranty and select edition doesnt cover it either. The dealer insist to try to charge me diag fees, and give me crazy qoutes for fixing costing 3K to have them fully replaced. I have the Jaguar Select Edition Passport Booklet and it says the following
"Jaguar Select Edition Limited Warranty covers any factory-supplied component of the Jaguar vehicle that is defective with the exception of the following items"
On the following items it doesnt mention headlights, or headlight assemblies as an exception. However it says "Headlamp Aiming" as an exception. Thats it.
So I called the Jaguar main headquaters to get this resolved. I need other forum members to assist me so I can be covered too. Some members states their dealerships replaced them under select editon. I need the names of those dealers or some info so this can help me. I dont want to pay any diag fees, or any charges period. All I want is for my headlights to be replaced. Its clear that something internally is broken which is affecting the way the headlights operation. Please I need ya help. I really dont want to get rid of my Jag, but If I run into the dealership keeps trying to charge me diag fees or other charges I might not be a Jag owner for any longer. Please help. Thanks

RE: MY LAST RESORT HELP ME GET MY HEADLIGHTS COVERED BY SELECT EDITION
somewhere along the line the problem needs to be diagnosed. I have given lots of tips to help you do that. I dont think that you can demand no diagnostic fee when you refuse to do even the most basic of checks about the lights.
I understand you want the failure to be something that falls within the warranty but until you get up off your *** and take a look at the issue I would not be giving any information that might jeopardise a good dealer relationship... (not mine.. my dealer sux)
I am sure there are some failures that fall within the warranty, and others that dont.
Until you find out what is wrong, the answer will be unknown.
I suggest that you answer some of the very basics as outlined in my previous posts.
I stilll dont know if the headlights are xenons or not,, if the have automatic levelling, and if they move during the startup routine. There are tabs that commonly break, and that can be checked too. We dont even know if all they need is adjusting with a simple screw.
If you are going to fight a war, I suspect you will do better if you learn more about the issue, not just stand on some principal.

Tried to adjust them manually but they will not move one bit, the screws are moving but lights are not.The dealer says auto-adjustment broke, thats what they say they found in the diagnostic testing and projecter positioning broke too, which cause the projecter to point down and not up.In otherwords the projector is just siting in one place. They are xenons hid headlights I need both headlight assemblies replaced under select edition if you can help. Otherwise I guess my car will be for sale next week. Im giving Jaguar one more chance.
I see 2 sold for over 20K on Ebay, so I shouldnt have no problems making my money back plus some profit too.

I've seen so many posts from you about how great the Jags are ( sorry were ) and how you bought them sooo cheap and got everythin on them, luxury car etc etc and you generally raved about them. You buy cars soo super cheap and make soo much money.
Then, one small problem and its like, they are crap, the forums sh*t and nobody wants to help, the MB forum is the best and has like a million memmbers where nobody has any problems at all ever.
You're gonna sell the Jag and make a pile of money you've had enough and go back to Benz.........Now you wanna stay??
Please tell me...........which one is it?

RE: MY LAST RESORT HELP ME GET MY HEADLIGHTS COVERED BY SELECT EDITION
I want to stay with Jaguar, but I just cant. I am not bashing the forums, only thing I said is that I feel like Im at home on the Benz forums, because theres tons of people there, plenty of meets with over 100 benzes showing up, tons of mods and tuners, and great aftermarket parts too. Why would Jaguar make a car so difficult you must take the entire bumper off to change a Bulb or to replace headlights ? My Benz I can change everything even the headlight assemblies without even taken off the bumper its easy. I cant even find any good aftermarket rims for a Jag. With a Benz I can get over 50-100 styles, and get MB Tuner companys Reps Like Brabus, Lorinser, Carlssonn wheels too. I cant do that with the Jag. I got jealous today when my friend got his new Benz, and putting some Lorinser Wheels on it.Im begining to feel Inferior driving a Jaguar when I see a Benz. I been with Benz all 22 years of my life. Thats my home. Im sorry guys, I am not tryna diss or bash anyone but Im just telling you how I feel. I hope you understand. No Im not saying that Benzes dont have problems. When you do have problems with a Benz its more easier to diagnois, and fix over a Jaguar. Plus tons of people on the forum can help me and come to a location and help. Its more of a family over there. I hope you understand. No matter if I stay or leave I want this cat to be safe in someones hands and they can be apart of the Jaguarforums family. If you guys can help me get Select Edition to get my Headlights replaced that would be such a great help.

You feel more at home with the Benz and there's a bigger forum etc I can understand. Its just annoying whe so many people here have welcomed you and listened / replied to your posts and tried to help, but maybe its just not for you.
I think maybe the best solution is to email our Jag Techs and see if they can help you
FactoryJaguarTech

PM these guys and politely ask for help and I'm sure if they can, they will.
Good luck frombenz

RE: MY LAST RESORT HELP ME GET MY HEADLIGHTS COVERED BY SELECT EDITION
^Thanks for understanding. I just need the forum to help me get my headlights replaced under Select Edition. I will need contact info and dealership info so I can give to the 800 number so they can see other people who had their headlights replaced under select editions warranty. Thats all Im asking for. My headlights are definitley broken internally, and I tried fixing them myself but I have given up. My Benz I could change a bulb in seconds, with a Jag looks like a hour plus. Please help. Thanks

RE: MY LAST RESORT HELP ME GET MY HEADLIGHTS COVERED BY SELECT EDITION
guys even the x type JTIS tells us to remove the bumper to change the bulbs.... but with small hands you can do it without removing it.
Xenon bulbs should last longer than the car, defects aside. so the convenience to change them is not terribly important. Lots of people are driving around with original bulbs.
To get the bumper off the X type is a 15 minute activity once you have done it a few times.
Dealers over charging is just the way it is. everyone is getting shafted all the time.
I hope you can find some of your thousands of dollars you have saved to get your headlights fixed. The time spend pissing around on the computer could have had the job done by now....
hahah.. I do hope you can get some resolution.

Im not spending any money on my car period. I am going to try to have Select pick up the tab. If not I will just sell the car. I hope I can come to a resolution. Just help me get them fixed by Select Edition people.

Then you ask the JagTech for help and then tell him he doesn't know whats he's talking about[:@][:@]
" How to win friends and influence people "in one easy lesson
Maybe thats the way it works on the MB forum, but, not here, which is a friendly and generally helpful forum as stated by many members except you, then after all that the statement highlighted in your quote!!!???

You are really a jerk man, what makes you think you are so important that everything has to be done for you for free. Just because you were fortunate enough to pay extra for some select warranty, wow.
There are millions of people all over america who don't even have the means to use the internet to look up options on their cars, they jsut go to a mechanic and pay what is requested, overcharge or not...and they have a lot less money then you must to pay for car repairs.
Everyplace overcharges, that's how capitolism works. MCDONALDS OVERCHARGES, it's just business. What is your business benz, because i'm sure whatever you do you overcharge people at some point. Be a GOd DAMN MAN

Frombenz.....you have brass ones asking that after all you've said and the tone used!
Jagtech may be right............I think it may be your attitude that is the problem and the fact that you seem to know better than anyone else?

I am sorry FromBenz, but I will not ever give you my info. I have told you everything you need to know to get this resolved. You will not listen. So I am done with this conversation mate. Good luck with it. You gonna need it.
