Default my .rtf doc detailing changing rear pads with pics

I have little or no mechanical experience. After reading posts on forums I still wasn't so brave but needing to save £345 I had to have a go. I found it a doddle so I have detailed the pitfalls for a total novice with pictures in a .rtf file. You may find it useful if you are a total beginner.
To get the file onto your computer you need to use FTP outlined below.

In your browser [I use Chrome] type the following in the address line or click this link
ftp://iants.homeip.net
you will be asked for username and password.
username is ian
no password so leave it blank.
If you use pdf simply click on My-rear-pads-change-x-type.pdf
If this doesn't work there is a file called
My-rear-pads-change-x-type.rtf
to download this file you need to use an ftp command.
to do this - on your computer screen bottom left click start. Then click on run
In the window that opens type cmd and click OK. This will open a cmd window viz

C:\Documents and Settings\Rick>
This shows the folder you are currently in. remember this folder as the file will be put here.

In this CMD window type

ftp
and press return key. you should then get
ftp>
now type in
open ianst.homeip.net
and press return key. you should then get
Connected to ianst.homeip.net.
220-FileZilla Server version 0.9.37 beta
220-Hello there
220 Please visit http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/
User (ianst.homeip.netnone)):

type ian
and leave password empty this will log you in.

now type in

get My-rear-pads-change-x-type.rtf
case sensitive I think
and press return key. the file will now start to download to the folder you are in.
when the file has finished you will get back to
ftp>
just type
quit and close the window.
Now go and open the file.

as I only attempted rear pad change the ABS warnings I had been given were unfounded BUT
I did use the special wind back tool and did not need to open the bleed valve. I didn't change my
brake fluid so no bleeding was required.
Orientation of the lug holes on the piston is critical after winding piston back to accomadate
new fatter pads. There is a raised marker on the housing above the piston. Wind the piston back SLOWLY!!!
See photo below for lug on piston face orientation with raised marker on piston housing.

bottom with rubber bush, held in place with 10mm nylock nut.

remove this rubber bush to expose 13mm
nut in above image. You only need to
loosen exposed bottom nut and then swing
caliper down towards back of car to
expose old pads. You might need
to use a screwdriver to do this.

I only had the right-hand wind back tool which was fine for the drivers side. For the passengers side [UK} I ended up using pipe-grips on the piston and the 12mm [or was it 14mm] hex tool into the centre of the piston. I operated pressure on the pipe-grips whilst my friend turned the hex socket - me calling out stop, changed position of pipe-grip and go for him to crank it counter clockwise again. This rigmarole went on for approx 20 times to get the piston wound back! Wish I'd had the left-hand wind back as well I can tell you!
My worries on the ABS were unfounded. I made sure I wound back slowly and did not need to open the bleed valve on the calipers.
