You don-t have any errors when you upgrade to 2din DVD&NAVI?because the original unit on the x-type have some strange conections in back, what do you made with this conections?
I have X-TYPE 2002 , 2.5 V6 with A/C and radio cass and i want to upgrade to 2 DIN dvd but as i said,i saw some strange conections in back of console,

Thanks Dennis for your answer,i just found a leak at ITM and i already changed the 2 O-RINGS and a new battery, now my brakes are better, but the engine light and sometimes the **cruise not available** (FOR SECONDS and sometimes for FEW MINUTES) are still coming, especially when i drive in the city.
I talk to the jaguar service where they cleaning my throtle body(found that error and solved) and they told me it is ok if i want to upgrade my ECM software, can be solved many problems.
Jaguar recommend this kind of ECM software upgrade at 2002-2003 x-type.
Your opinion are very important to me with this problem, because in Romania are not many jag-s on the road and the techs are not very familiar with jag-s.
So if you have any other ideas how to escape with the engine light and the *cruise not available* you are very welcome

Hey Dennis

Awesome stuff here, went out this weekend and got the code reader you have. No codes (knock on wood) right now.

I've got a weird one for you. Might solve itself after my windshield gets replaced but since I've had the car my right side (passenger) side electric defog unit on the windshield hasn't worked, and on my mirror none of the stuff on it works either, ususally there is that little light for the auto mirror thing but nothing there. I popped off the cover and everything seems to be plugged in. Fuses are all fine too.

Hi dennis,

I am a new owner of 2001 x-type 2.5, some question about transmission oil change

1-difficulty = easy

I had no knowledge of fix car, is it safe to do that myself? Cause i had asked my car fixing shop outside and they recommend me to go back to Jaguar for oil change.

2-parts = 5/16 allen wrench

3-fluids = 2quarts redline mt90 transmission oil

I called Jaguar and they said the car need 6 liter of transmission oil. So it was about how many quarts?

4-pump = you can get one from advance auto for $5

6- first jack up the left side of your x

7-look to the rear of your transmision and locate the 5/16 plug

8-let the fluid drain 1.5 quarts came out of mine..then lock it up

Why not drain out all of them?

9-now move to the front of the car and loosen the 5/16 plug in the front

10-insert the pump with the redline transmission oli in it and pump

11-put tape on the threads on the plug and button here up your done

MY NEXT PROJECT WILL BE THE TRANSFER CASE

Dennis, as stated before, your projects and installs are awesome and always a welcome adittion here
Unfortunatell this one big long extended thread covering so many topics makes it hard to find anything and many pages to view as you think you may have saw something relative in this thread only to find out you were wrong!
I'm locking this thread and would ask that you please start any new threads relative to whatever the subject matter may be and title them accordingly
Thanks for your help Dennis and look forward to your next topic / post as always
