Mystery solved: remote control sometimes does not work
I am reporting my experience in case someone out there has a similar problem.
I had an intermittent problem with my remote control often failing to open or lock the doors. By luck I discovered the following:
When you remove the ignition key, a spring-loaded metal flap closes the slot. But if the flap gets stuck in the open position the remote control is ineffective. A drop of oil is all it needed.
