Quartz, the best advice that I can tell you on this upgrade is to have a local donor car handy to get what pieces that you don't have from. The NAV radio requires a special CD player to be in the trunk, fiber link between the radio and the player in the trunk, the new head unit, GPS antenna, and other pieces. Please keep in mind that odds are, you are going possibly have fitment issues as the NAV radio extends up into the are where the heater controls are on your car. So, you are also looking at having to convert over your heating system.
As you are seeing, this isn't a simple upgrade. If you truely want NAV in your car, you would be better off going aftermarket and getting the NAV that way. Going to be cheaper and easier in the long run.
Can it be done. Of course. But, how much time and money are you willing to invest just to get the factory setup?

Hey Quartz,
Yeah I got a little tired of the old head deck in my car. Great that it came with a 6 stacker CD player, but I haven't used CDs since 2006. So like you I also contemplated on upgrading the head deck with the navigation OEM head deck but found the cost and difficulty in doing so just too much like what Thermo said.
It was far easier and cheaper to simply buy a new head deck (touchscreen which can mirror my phone, ie Mirrorlink), buy a wire harness adapter and a facia then you're good to go. I think I did it all for about $700 AUD.
I can list all the parts out if you're interested?
Oh also take a look at my before and after photos (just in the after photo try to imagine that the ash tray is put back haha)
