what ad?????
the maintenance is expensive in comparison to a Honda or Chevy.
you do need the dealer for most parts when things fall apart.
the 2003 still had a few bugs. I would look for a 04-05. they worked out most if not all the bugs by then. post the ad you speak of so we can see.

Not that is has changed in the last 100 years but to refresh anyone that has forgotten.
For a good used car.
Clean - and I mean spotlessly everywhere. if the owner has taken care of the car it will have a fresh coat of wax on it. leather conditioned, and plastic protected. Under the hood should be clean as a whistle. the alloy wheels should not have any brake dust stains on them.
[ul][*]ALL maintenance records from new.. and should have extra stuff done, not just the manual.[*]Two keys.... all paperwork/manuals that came with the car.[*]clean carfax.[*]all repair history. repair is different than maintenance.[*]NO damage, dents, dings, scratches... a good car should look almost perfect everywhere.[*]No accident. no repairs No curb rash on the wheels.[*]no Rust - get down on your hands and knees and LOOK everywhere.. speciall y the bottom of the A-post and the rocker panels (under the side skirts)[*]driven in a salt free location.[*]Garaged[*]Lady driven. Older the better.[*]Low miles[*]manual transmission.[*]as many options as possible. higher spec used cars dont carry much of a premium.[*]lastly.. find an honest seller HAHAHHHAHAHHAAHHAH .... pfffft.[/ul]
kinda a dumb question of wear and tear.... that is entirely driver dependant. not the car's fault.
actually the questions are fairly dumb all around..
Yes jag is expensive for parts, and yes most need to come from dealers. Like any other car, oil filters, brakes, and suspension parts are available from other places.
what transmission and options does the car have? what colour? where

Alright guys the rest of what he missed is added in his first post.
Even with that information, nitriya,we can't really give you any advice.
What I can give you however is that the 2002/3 issue isn't as big as people make it. The flaws some depict aren't that big of a deal and they should have mostly been fixed under warranty by the original owner. Feel free to buy either one of the early x-type's but make sure the price matches the year. We probably can't help much on cost as we don't have the car you speak of.
There is a possibility that the car is fwd as he lives in Australia as well as the funky engine as they make both but not here in North America.
My guess also is that the major problems people have with the transfer case on the early model years don't exist on a fwd x-type.
You might be better off finding a different jaguar forum to help with the questions because I don't know if there are too many people that can help you out considering that model is completely different than anything we drive.
