I am having trouble locating the Canister Vent Solenoid. Part #C2S8605, I was told it was located directly above the rear differential. Cannot find it please help, pictures would be great!!
Having trouble filling it up with gas looking to replace that part.
Any thoughts/comments would be great!

Jonzy, the vent canister has nothing to do with filling up the vehicle. All the canister does is collect the unused vapors. What you want to look at is the small rubber tube that runs next to the filler tube. I bet you will find that it is pinched somewhere and not letting the displaced air to escape. That will build up pressure inside the gas tank and make the fuel pump think that the tank is getting full.

thermo he is correct, the vent solenoid on the end of the charcoal cannister IS there to allow vapor pressure to escape when filling with gas. If it sticks closed the vapor heads out the tube you speak of and the filler neck and shuts off the nozzle. A worse senario is if the vent valve on the top of the tank is bad, you have to drop the tank to replace and I dont even remember if it is a servicable part or you need a tank replacement

Burtal -
Have you replaced the canister before? I took it to my local Jag dealership and they replaced the purge valve Part #C2G2403. The reason I took it in the first place was for my check engine light which was code P0443. They reset the light and I was on my way, 30 miles or so it came back on. Obviously it wasn't the Purge Valve that was causing the fuel cut off...

Brutal, I just purchased a 2005 S-Type 4.2L and on day 3 I got an engine code of P0443. Could be the EVAP Canister purge valve leaking or failure but in any case instead of guessing and throwing parts at it, shouldn't I do a smoke/leak test on the entire system first? What do you recommend. I live in Baytown and work in Houston. I am looking for a mechanic I can totally trust my baby to for the rest of her life.
