Need Help with Unidentified Sensor
Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on this for me. I bought a used X-Type and it did not have the battery cover. While replacing the battery, I noticed two wires that were attached to the bottom of the battery box. It looks like a sensor of some sort and I am assuming it is a magnetic-type sensor that allows the computer to tell something about the condition of the battery box.
Does anyone know what that sensor does and is it important that I locate the cover from a wrecker for the car to operate properly?
Thanks so much in advance!

Don't worry!! It's a redundant connection that is only used with a temporarily fitted Transit Relay while the car is in transit from the factory to the dealer. It allows the car to be used in a basic fashion yet not allowing any quiescent current drain while the car is shut down, so avoiding flattening the battery in storage. The Transit Relay is removed before the car is sold and the two-wire connection is 'parked' under the battery box.
