Need X Type ecu and tcm reflash
Hi folks,
Sorry, but I can't find this info on here if it is. I apologize if it is here and I'm starting yet another post.
I've got an X Type 3 litre automatic. My ECU and TCM are blank, the only Dealer here did it either by mistake or whatever. Can somebody suggest how I can have this software written again? I will NOT go to the Dealer, the car can rot in my yard, it's been there for a full year now. I want it fixed. Is there a package I can buy and use with my laptop?
Please and thank you,
Joe

Joe, well, you are kinda in between a rock and a hard place with the car. As I see it, you have 3 options.
1) go back to the dealership that is local to you and give them another try. Not saying these are good options, just stating what is possible.
2) you can try finding another X-Type that was built at roughly the same time as yours (the build dates are in the driver's door jam) and then buying the new units and then putting them into the car to see if they will work. Some people have had luck with this, others have found that the computers need to be flashed to match the data in the car.
3) finding another dealership that you can give them your VIN and whatever other info that they need and then you send them the units to have the software put back into the computers. I am sure there is a dealership out there that will do it, but how many you will have to call to get this answer is hard to say.
Finding a local "tune" shop that will have that info I think is a far shot as there has never been much call for special tunes on these cars. I am sure there are people out there with the ability, the trick will be finding one that will help you out.

Thank you. Good options. However, I will not go back to that dealer, it was a nightmare and is the same for anybody who deals with them. It's a family of idiots. No other dealers in the province either. I'll keep searching. Thank you for your reply. I can also buy the software and a cable for my laptop, according to another user. However, it comes down to another thousand dollars. I've spent enough thousands on that car, I just can't bring myself to spend yet another. Thank you once again.
Sincerely,
Joe
