Nervous! 05 3.0 x type
This is going to be my second jaguar x type but unfortunately my first jag only made it two months before being totaled.
The more i read and read, the more i scare myself away... I now am looking at buying a 2005 3.0 auto with 71K miles, vin SAJWA51C15WE20551. Anyone possibly a professional look up my vin for me? Thanks - .
I'm so NERVOUS due to reading so much and getting so lost in confusing reviews..post...etc. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE JAGUAR!, not sure what to expect in Maintenance and future problems! I heard about this site and how helpful y'all are. Looking to make a purchase within 2 days. How to check what maintenance has been done if done by a "DIY"er? Is this a good investment, deal?
Please and thank you to all, for any advice, feed back, comments and concerns!

cgibbs, first off, welcome to the forums. We will live up to what you have heard. So, sit back, relax, enjoy a cup of coffee and learn some.
Please keep in mind that most people do not post on to a forum like this unless they are having issues. So, yes, you are going to hear a lot of problems. Most of our cars have been fairly trouble free and are not any worse than any other car out there. So, hopefully that will put you at ease.
The big thing you need to keep in mind with the X-Type is it is a great cruiser. IT will last forever if you drive it that way. If you want a sports car, this is going to be an expensive car due to the transfer case. If you need something to go light to light, then an S-Type is going to suit you better.
When buying a used X-Type, the best advice I can tell you is to take it out for a test drive, listen for any noises the drive train is making. If everything is quiet, then buy the car. If you hear noises like rocks in a can, run from the car. Odds are the transfer case is about to go. After that, assume the maintenance on the car has not been performed and do it yourself. All of the fluids can be changed by an average DIY'er. Talk to us and we will step you through it.
