I changed front driver head light twice last week, you need do them every 6 or 8 weeks on a X-type I find. Anyway first one actually tip of blub broke of the first day. Couple of day later I replaced it with another blub, working fine. However, I did not change the passenger side one with is a better blub, so they don't quite match. I figure it will only last a few more weeks as I changed them both just a couple of months ago.
So the new issue I am having this weeks is a warning buzz, hum, like the back up warning indicator noise when I started the car for about 2 seconds. No warming light, I have not pulled codes because there are not lights or flashing going on.
That is not normal. What kind/brand of bulbs are you using?
Good question. I wonder if the OP has a problem with the bulbs because his island is on the wrong side of the country? Here on Vancouver Island (an island in the Pacific) the headlamp bulbs in X-Types (and these Canadian-market cars have ALL the exterior lamps on all the time) last about two years or more on a car used daily. There is a real problem if the bulbs last only two months: substandard bulbs? Excessive voltage?....
Those are good quality bulbs and burning through them that quick is definitely not normal unless you basically have them on 24/7. Maybe check the connector and wiring. Has it been like that since you got it or did that just start recently? Under normal driving you should easily get a couple years out of them I would think.
So the beeping or hum is the backup senors. I does it every time I start the car. Last night, I tested backing up to car parked behind me at work...nothing.
Almost bumper bumper, and it works way better then that normally.
I will check clear the codes tomorrow, if that does work I will starting test the wires and senors.
