Put a volt meter to the plug that connects to the compressor and check for power if there is, then your compressor clutch is probably bad.
If there isnt, then you may have a bad pressure switch (there is usually one high and one low) or relay
No need to add refrigerant yet, it's probably full but that's not your issue.
You can also try running power directly to the compressor (for a short while) to see if it engages.

I tried to add 134a and it took. I heard it leaking when I shut it down. I found that one of the screws that hold the lower radiator shield on had rubbed a hole through the a/c line.
Is there a chance of a patch of some kind? It is in the aluminum. I need a temp fix ASAP as we are leaving on a trip to Chicago to a U2 Concert Monday the 4th?

You could try getting a reinforced rubber hose with an inside diameter the same as the outside diameter if the metal connector. About an inch is all you will need. Cut the hose, lightly put some contact cement on the inside of the hose and on the metal connector. Wait a few minutes. The wrap the split hose around the connector being careful to put the end opposite the hole in the connector and press it on firmly. Now take a worm screw hose clamp and center it over the hose and the hole and clamp it down tightly. This should hold it temporarily. Don't worry about the metal connector pipe as it will have to be replaced anyway. Good luck!
