No Heat/High Engine Temp Warning

No Heat/High Engine Temp Warning
2003 X-Type; 3.0L.
Heater quit working (A/C still works, just no hot air).
Yesterday, I got a "High Engine Temp" light/warning (with associated high gauge indication).
We turned off the A/C and the warning went away (temp went back to normal range).
Anyone know if there is a "quick fix" for this or does it require a trip to the dealer?
Greatly appreciate any help.

Just checking you have checked the obvious here. Is the coolant level in the car ok or are you running low on coolant?? No coolant no hot air no engine cooling and high running temp.
If the coolant is there you might have a broken thermostat they do have the tendancy to break on occasion and end up open too far which can lead to the car not being able to heat the water (no hot air and this also leads to engine temp faults showing high engine temp even though it is actually too cold.
Speaking from experiance. Thermostat is an easy fix, three bolts couple of hose clips and a bit of a fiddle job done. You will need to remove the front bumper under tray for better access and to get to the coolant drain plug.

Thanks! I've been doing a little research and it seems signs are (hopefully) pointing to this. Hopefully a cheap/relatively easy fix.
