I've just found this post buried in JPC's Intro thread and moved it to the X-Type section for you.
If you still have the issue, the guys here will be able to help.

paul, first off, take a look at fuse F81 in the central junction box (the one in the engine bay). Should be a 20 amp fuse. If in doubt, turn the car on and using a multimeter, check that both posts on top of the fuse have atleast 12.6 VDC on them.
Since you have checked the other switches, this really only then leaves the fuel pump itself or the fuel pump computer. To access both of these, you are looking at having to drop the fuel tank down on the one side (if you are sitting in the driver's seat, the side to your left) and the computer is in a little pocket on top of the gas tank. You will see a 10 pin plug there. You can verify that you have 12 VDC to the computer by checking the black/green wire at Pin 9 for voltage with the key in the RUN position. Next, connect the multimeter across the red wire-Pin 10 (red lead) and the yellow wire-Pin 3 (black lead) and seeing if you get 12 VDC there.
If you are getting 12 VDC on the black/green wire and no voltage on the red-yellow wires, then odds are your fuel pump module is toast. If you are getting voltage on the red-yellow wires, then odds are your fuel pump is dead.
Please keep in mind that I am making an assumption here that you have the 3.0L motor as the X-Type never came with a 4.0L motor. If you happen to have the 2.0L motor, then that will change things some as the wiring for that fuel pump is slightly different.
