Unhappy Non starting X Type 2.5 V6

Hi all, My name is Paul and I'm new to this forum and would like some technical assistance on a few faults on a friends Jaguar.

The initial fault with it was flat battery and then intermittent starting problems after charging the battery, now it wont start at all and the power windows no longer work at all and the wipers have stopped working.

There is no power to the fuel pump on either the red or yellow wire.

I cant hear the fuel pump run.

It cranks over but just wont fire (probably due to no fuel)

The power cables from the battery to the starter and to the alternator are in good condition.

The following fault codes are permanently stored and wont clear

P1146
P1582
P1629
P1000
P1338
P1699

I am thinking along the lines of a spiked ECM/ECU at the moment.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Regards

Paul

Nothing really fatal there at first glance!!

P1146 Generator to ECM “CHARGE” circuit:
open circuit, high resistance
Generator regulator failure

P1582 if any of the following occur:
1 Inertia switch activated
2 Throttle Limp Home mode
3 Engine starts and stumbles
4 Engine fail to start
5 Engine stall
The details of the conditions when the failure occurred are recorded in the Flight Recorder if you have a scanner to get to that! Be worth checking the Inertia Switch hasn't been tripped! It's accessed through a hole in the side panel of the righthand footwell ( Or is it on the left in a LHD car?)

P1629
ECM to generator “FIELD” return circuit:
open circuit, high resistance
Generator regulator failure
Generator failure

P1000 just means System (OBD) check not complete since last memory clear. Nothing to worry about at this stage!

P1338
ECM to fuel pump control module control and
/ or feedback circuits:
open circuit, short circuit, high resistance
Fuel pump control module failure (Or maybe Inertia switch tripped?)

P1699
CAN open circuit fault – A/C Control Module to ECM
CAN short circuit fault
A/CCM failure
ECM failure
(Check CAN connections between A/C module and ECM for loose/corroded connector pins

Hi,

Got it figured out this morning, It was the ignition relay, the grey one behind the glove box on the passenger side (this is a right hand drive car). as soon as i touched it the wipers come back to life, turned the key and it fired right up.

So this thread can no be closed, thank you for your input it is greatly appreciated.

Paul
