Default NorCal ACM installer?

Can anyone recommend an installer for an ACM in Northern California? I asked my local dealer, and their first response was "What's that?" After I explained it to them, they got back to me later in the day and said $500-$600 for the install. Not only is that way too much, I also don't really trust them. When I asked them if they had ever installed one before - I was told "uhhh..sure we have..."

I don't mind going to a dealer, but I'd at least like to go to a dealer that's installed one before.

I don't have the CD changer - so it sounds like I may have to go to a dealer to have them enable the CDC function??

Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated. If you can't recommend someone in the public forum, please message me offline.

Thanks,

Kevin

Just like racer said; is very easy to install, I just installed mine. You are going to have extra cables since this is the same kit for the s-type and xj. For the x-type, just radio harnness and optic cable, and then the 3 connections ( i-pod, USB, RCA cables) going from the ACM unit to the armrest. Now, I need to go to the dealer to enable the cdc button; I wonder how much they are going to charge me?

If you don't mind me asking where did you find the ACM and if possible what was the price paid. From what I've seen the dealer is the only place to buy the actual unit unless you're lucky enough to find one on ebay. I imagine if the dealer was nice they wouldn't charge anything or they could charge an hour of labor if they didn't want to be so nice.

Well, I did got it from ebay; I paid $255.00 plus $10 shipping. I just checked ebay again, and the same vendor (Byers Imports) has it for $298.00 plus $10.20 Shipping. But, a few days ago I saw ANOTHER verdor who had it for $198.00, so just keep looking.

Is the ACM any more or less difficult to install when you have both navigation and the 6-disc changer?

Can someone post a tutorial on how to install it before I accually buy it? Also how exactly will I enable the CDC button? Do I need to take the car to jaguar? Or can I do it myself?

If you have a cd changer (OEM), your cdc button on the head unit should be activated, therefore, the ACM should work without having the need to go to the dealer.

Update...I didn't have to go to the dealer to get the cdc button activated. It seems like because I have the Nav System, it was already activated; my acm is working really nice. Last post about this. Later

Could anyone write up a "How-To"? I downloaded the instruction manual but I'm kinda intimidated on the removal of some of the console pieces. Is it really that simple?
