Oil in Water, Not water in oil

On that model is the radiator tank also used to cool powersteering fluid or transmission fluid? If that is the case and any of the joints within the tank leaks, you will see a mix of oil in the coolant.
If you catch it early enough and change the radiator, usually no harm done to the other systems. To get the oil out you can fill with water and dish detergent, run for a while and dump it out before flushing with water, then filling with coolant.

Hello plums
thank you for the reply
Luckily only 100 metres from home the temp shot up and when I stopped water was gushing out the side of the water reservoir tank and filled (along with all lines and hoses on the water side) with thick grey gunk.
The car is a manual so no tranny to worry about and the power steering is clean as new.
Hmmmmm.
