Smith, to get the P1000 code to clear can take 30 KM, it can take 1000KM to clear. The best advice that I can say is to take the car for a drive through the country (where you have moments up at speed, but also moments where you are going slow/stopping) and have the gas tank between 1/4 and 3/4. Hopefully after about 50KM, you should be set.
In short, the ECU is looking for the motor to be at certain RPMs for a certain amount of time so it can perform all the needed checks. There is no "if you do this, all will be good" routine that anyone has found/figured out. The best thing is to simply drive at a lot of different speeds for a period of time.
