P1236...VSV 1 Circuit. Help.
I'm trying to help my elderly neighbor repair her 2002 x-type (with only like 36k original miles on it). Anyway, I scanned it and it came up with p1236 "VSV 1 Circuit" code. I have no idea what that means. I attempted a quick google search and didn't yield any ideas or tips or what to look for on this particular model vehicle.
I'm going to try downloading the manual, but I would appreciate any help or guidance. So far, I have determined that VSV is either a fuel pump control or a vacuum issue. It would be awesome if anyone could tell me more info to help save this poor lady some money by not having to go to the dealer.
Thanks in advance!
Kris

Kris,
The Jaguar DTC listing for P1236 is:
The 'possible causes' shows either the Fuel Pump Control Module itself or a fault in the harness connection to the ECU.
The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. The fuel pump module features an integral fuel tank sender unit and is fixed to the fuel tank by means of a locking ring. As the fuel tank is of a saddle design, a fuel pump module and a transfer pump module are incorporated. The fuel pump module, located in the right-hand saddle, transfers high pressure fuel (low flow) to the left-hand side of the fuel tank. The transfer pump module, located in the left-hand saddle, then transfers low pressure fuel (high flow) into the right-hand fuel pump.

There's two options for the Workshop Manual:
1. either the full or just the X-Type section of JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information System):

2. X-Type Workshop Manual in PDF format:
