Default Parking sensors

Jaguar x type 2008.
Front middle passanger side Parking sensor not working.
Intermittent, sometimes work all apart forom the one at fault.
When at fault there is a long uninterrupted tone when i put the car in reverse, even though there is nothing behind or in front of me.
is this the front sensor causing an electrical fault to all sensors round causing an error.....?
Do i just need to replace the front sensor.....?
Is there another electrical fault where the sensors are plugged into.....?
thanks all.

EFCjeff, if you have a sensor that is bad, yes, the unit will give you that long tone to tell you that there is a problem with the system. So, that is normal. Look around, get a new sensor and put it in. That should clear things up for you. The other check that I would tell you to do is to put the car in REVERSE (using a second person) and then put your near near all the sensors. You should hear a high pitched squeal/chirp from the sensors. The ones that are quiet are failing/failed. They will need replaced.

The problem best to change all the sensors because if one starts failing all the others will it happened on my xjr if you paint code them before you put the new ones in put very little paint on them otherwise the sensor will think there is something behind it you can get front sensors 4 for about £35 from ebay and rear set for about the same I had mine for rear on ebay that is brand new price my mate Wayne is doing his xj 2008 diesel now rear I got him the sensors and paint he got the same problem as you from Robert rawle South Wales UK Britain
