Unhappy Passenger side HID unit broke.

Well it finally happened the passenger side HID auto level system is broken. All it is, is a cheap plastic part, as many of you have noted. But it is not replaceable. I have to replace the entire headlight unit. The dealer is willing to sell me the unit for $861.00 with is over $100 below list, but God knows how much the labor will be, and I sure as hell can't do it myself. I am having problems with my back again so bad I had to go to the ER. The verdict I have compression fractures in two vertebrae. Have to see a specialist. excuse me but ****.

Adam there are kits avail to take the headlight apart and replace those pieces now. I wish i had kept the dozen sets i had, but that plastic inside is pure crap, way worse than stype issues. Labor should be no more than 1.5hrs cp

Can you advise where I can look for these kits, I tried a search on the internet last nite and couldn't find anything for repairing these lights. To be truthful I don't have the money to replace the light. I would appreciate any help you folks can give me. As I am sick between the cancer and now a broken back, I am about to go crazy.

Smile HID lights broken

I did an search on Ebay and found this.

Xenon Headlamp Adjuster Repair Kit for - Stype, Xtype | eBay

Is this what I need to fix the headlight? The seller advertizes it as a kit to fix broken adjusters on Xenon headlights. Do I need 1 or 2 kits because if I move the plastic rod inside the highbeam housing the HID headlight moves also?

I did send Jagular a private message and so far I haven't heard back from him.
But if this what I need I am going to order one and let my body shop fix it.
The only thing, when I look inside the highbeam side below the adjustment wheel is where the break is. The adjustment wheel has a square piece of plastic that comes down into the bulb holder, then where the break is the plastic is thinner. If you grab that piece and pull on it the whole unit moves including the headlight. I down see this in the pic of the replacement piece. So I am confused as the kit doesn't have that thinner piece of plastic. \

Also I emailed Jaguar USA and told them what the problem was, I said this is a known problem with these cars and I think Jaguar should replace it for fee or perhaps we can make out an arrangement about the cost. I can provide many emails as to the weakest of this system. They wrote back and said basically too bad your on your own.

The low beam Xenon lights on my X-type see like the point a bit low but not seriously. Is there an easy obvisous way to tell if these pivot point are indeed broken without taking the light apart?

Smile HID repair kit pics

Here are some pics of the repair kit I got on Ebay, to tell U the truth I don't know how these pieces are going to work and fix the problem.

Can anyone please advise if this is the correct parts? As the company has a 30 guarantee money back no questions asked. This kit cost $75 and change so if it is not correct I want to get it back asap. Thanks you all are always helpful and I learned alot about our cars.

Smile Broken or Not

My passenger side headlight is broken and when I hit a bump it jumps up and down, that's one way to tell. Or take off the cover and gently try and move the headlight encasement up and down, if it moves it is broken. If it move chances are the high beam is also broken.

yes thos are correct all youll see how it works after you take out the light assemblies, bake in the oven at 250* for 10 minutes to loosen the urethane and seperate the lense from the housing. those replace all the post and supports that will break, those metal ball post you see on the new ones are actually plastic in the OEMs and that why they break

Smile HID lights broken

I showed the kit to my mechanic and told him how the headlight is removed and about removing the lens. He said Adam I don't want to screw with this. Try you buddy and the body shop, he might (might is the magic word) try and do it.

Also, All I can see that is broken is a white piece of plastic that is attached to the piece of plastic that is the ratchet adjustment it is half way down and thinner then what it broke off of. When I lift the broken piece the high and HID lights both move up and down.

My mechanic came over last nite and asked to see the car again and the kit, he did some research on the net a professional site. Long story short, he is going to take a stab at fixing it next week.

Smile HID fix (I hope)

today is the day my mechanic is going to start taking my X apart to fix the HID lights. I sent him a address of a video on You Tube, 3 parts on how to fix these lights. He said he watched it and it didn't seem that hard. God bless him.

I went to a fundraiser for a friend who had a major heart attack last year and does not have enough money to pay all the medical bills as his insurance only covers 50% and his disability policy only 6 months. Mine started when I applied at age 60 (5 years ago) and ends next March when I am 66 and I get 66.6% of my last working year salary. I had a very good year so I doing all right now. But when I only get SS I am going to starve. Yes I had retirement money, lost a lot on the market and my Xwife was given most of the rest by the judge.
Bu this is no what I am right about. I left around 10PM and driving home I noticed the right headlight was only about a inch lower then the left which is not broken. I wondered if it would pass inspection, as they give you a 26in to 28in height spread for proper alignment in Mass.

Smile Hid fixed

My mechanic fixed my right HID auto level headlight with the repair kit I bought on EBay. It took him 4 hours, removed the bumper, removed the headlight, the headlight lens and took apart the headlight, it seems it is two pieces and held together with glue. After that all the plastic parts fell out, he got it all cleaned out inserted the new parts and put it back together. When he got the headlight mounted, and before putting the bumper back on he turned them on and they worked, cycled and he measured the distance from the ground to the middle of the headlight and it was just on 27 inches on both sides. When he gave me back the car I took it for a ride, as it was almost dark and sure enough they are even and seem to be at the correct height. Also a annoying rattle I had in the front end is now gone. How much did this cost me? $200.
He showed me the OEM plastic, it was so flimsy it just fell about as soon as you put pressure on it. I might order another kit for the left side. They are OK now but one never knows.

I am so happy I am beside myself! I wish I had such good teeth.

The kit on ebay is a good and the plastic is thicker than the oem plastic its worth it it beats paying for a new set I spent $2000 total on my xenon headlights with addaptive moving system for my s-type
