Passenger's Door Open error message

The door locks have microswitches in them to detect if the door is closed, these sometimes (often?) fail so you'll have the situation you face now. Can't lock the car, & the interior lights stay on.
Unfortunately the switch is built into the lock, & can't be replaced. You have to replace the complete lock assembly.
A possible temporary fix is to spray the doorlock with WD40, this can help but the problem will usually become intermittent. If your like me, the switch will fail at 4am, setting off the alarm & waking the whole neighbourhood...
Sorry!

Replacing the lock is fairly straight forward, if you've done that sort of thing before. I can help you out with some instructions if you want to tackle it yourself. You'd also want to get some spare door clips, cause these always break when you pull the door trim off.
The bigger problem is finding the correct replacement....
There are two different versions depending on the spec of the car (deadlocking)
I'd suggest you contact Dan at Nalley Jaguar nalleyjagparts@nalleycars.com give him the last six digits of your VIN, and be sure to tell him your a member of jaguarforums.com to get your member discount. Dan should be able to tell which one you need from your VIN.
EDIT! Ooops, I just realised your in Canada, & Nalley don't ship over the border...
Part numbers I can see are;
C2S48921 with Deadlocking
C2S48923 without Deadlocking
These are for a LHD car, passenger (right front) but you should check with a Jaguar dealer for accuracy.

Here is what Jaguar technical told my supplier what deadlocking was. Deadlocking is when you set off from a standstill when you first drive the vehicle away, once the car reaches a certain speed the doors will lock themselves. My manual refers to it as Drive-away door locking which locks all the doors when the vehicle is moving above 8 km/h. Not sure I believe it though becasue it says all vhicles have it and this feature can be disabled by the dealer.

I just follow the instructions on the JTIS CD. It has a diagram in there that shows where the door clips are. Always remember to remove the three screws first. Then get something flat and stiff that will not damage the door panel but will give you leverage to pry the panel off. Remove it straight out. You are bound to break a couple of those door clips. Would be nice if you had a few extra door clips in case that happens. This is the first time I have had trouble with those locks. Although it seems like I have replaced every speaker which are located in the doors as well.
