Performance Exhausts...
Well I've decided to get a quad pipe custom made exhaust.
Just had word back from http://www.mijperformance.com/exhaust-jaguar.htmland they are going to to the whole job (takes around 4 hours...free Sky TV and tea and biccies) for £275 (they made a mistake with the price but are going tohonour theprice).
Its a 4.5 hour drive each way but looking forward to the drive back...now just to decide how I want it to sound and the size and style of tailpipe trims..straight or angled upwards..etc.
I would like it to sound like a V8 and dont want it to screamor shriek likea chav mobile or boy racer (Rice car in US???).
Not bad considering the Borla is the same price and thats not fitted and it doesnt have the quad look.Whatstyle wouldyou guys go for?

RE: Performance Exhausts...
I have asked and will let you know re shipping.
I've asked to be booked in 21 April (cant go this weekend due to European Drifting Championship) or the weekend after (stag night..got to keep the lads entertained ) or the weekend after (Easter) or the weekend after (stag do blokes wedding reception) so hopefully be OK for the 21st??Then off for a weeks All Inclusive to Spain (while my wife can still fly...pregnancy) if I can get a cheap last minute deal??
I have had loads of spare time over the last few months and when I want to get work done on my car everything seems to cause a temporary halt.....ohh, the hectic schedule

RE: Performance Exhausts...
Im hoping to get the 70k service done at a Jag dealer on the way down.
Im taking a sound recorder to record an XKR or if they dont have one an Aston
Then I will ask the exhaust fitter to make it sound like that...I will probably get home a lot quicker than I get there

RE: Performance Exhausts...
Someone on the JEC forum sent this warning about the exhaust I have booked to get fitted:-
Anyone know if there is anything in this?
A friend of mine is quite on expert on stainless steel and bending machines this is what he has to say on the subject:
The’ T’ in T304 simply means tube
T304 isn’t aircraft grade – T321 (304 alloyed with titanium) or T347 (304 alloyed with niobium) are classed as aero-grade due to their superior strength at elevated temps as compared to std 304
T304L – which is ultra low carbon – which helps prevents weld decay
If you go on this site (mij), you’ll see some muppet operating a ‘crush type’ tube bending machine.
I can't print the rest I'll leave it to your imagination!!

I looked on the site buck and what he his bashing or saying is that when the mij company shows on there site is that where it says t304 it says that its aircraft quality or air craft grade which is what he is saying that t304 isn't, t304 is just stainless steel. I'd say go there check out the place and see what happens. If you don't like what you are seeing leave the place! That's what I'd do, just don't get ripped!

RE: Performance Exhausts...
Its really not a big deal... Hell, the stock exhaust is fine, so not having the most perfect metal in an aftermarket exhaust is still better than stock.
Also, crushed pipe is NOT that bad. It certainly is not as smooth of flow as mandrel bent, but at the high rate that exhaust flows it won't disrupt it that much.
Every exhaust shop I've seen makes crushed pipe... Not as many as one would think uses mandrel
