Default Phone Mounts for Our Cars

Hey guys,

I've been using a mount for my iPhone (and now HTC One) that mounted onto my windshield, but then I became annoyed at the auxiliary cable hanging from the top of the windshield down to my cassette adapter.

Ideally, I'd like to stick the mount on the wood, just about where the seatbelt light indicator is on the passenger side of the car. I tried using that white 3M adhesive tape, and even layering it twice on the top and bottom of the suction cup so that it would stick better to the curved wood. It worked for a week or two and then fell off.

The spot that I had it in with the 3M tape was optimal, but because of the curved wood, it makes it hard to stick it onto there. Does anyone know of any good quality alternatives? I want this thing to be as sturdy as possible. No air vent mounts that are gonna shake all the time.

Anyways, any experience with these mounts would be helpful. Thanks!

I found this on eBay. It connects to the nut on the passenger seat. And it looks and functions perfectly. I ran the iPod cable from the ACM under the right side of the console (LHD) and my iPod just sits there. It doesn't get in the way of the passengers legs either. I'm very happy with it. It's also in plain view when I use the GPS function f my iPod. Who needs a NAV radio?
I found one on eBay today... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARKON-IPM525...item4609aa9cb2 It says iPhone 4s, but I don't use the top securing thingys and my phone sits there all day without falling, so it'll work with a 5 without a problem.

wow, that's very interesting! does it move at all over bumps and such? i'm afraid that with my stiffened suspension and bigger wheels, it may move every time i hit a bump in the road.

Nope, never had a problem. I have low profile tires and consiquently have a hard ride but the phone stays put. The mount is pretty stiff so once you've bent it into the shape you want it stays there.
I've tried a few different mounts and this one, I think, is the best.

flyrr100, can you show a picture of where exactly it mounts to? I assume installation won't take more than 5 minutes?

I'll probably order the mount within the next few days.

I found a leather covered fiberglass stand on e-Bay that I mounted a holder onto. The leather interior is black, as is the stand, and it is made to custom fit my XJ. It looks as if it were built in from the factory.

It mounts directly onto the front left bolt that secures the passenger seat. Takes less than a few minutes. All you need is a socket, or a wrench. Just bend the thing where you need it and it's done.
