Its actually a combination of rubber and plastic. The flap is rubber and its molded to the plastic mounting. I managed to patch mine when it got damaged. I used epoxy putty to repair the plastic piece, then glued the rubber piece back on using black RTV cement. When I got done - I think I actually made the thing a bit more bulletproof.

Yeah it is Olden..sorta like vulcanized together..but overall, still a flimsy piece for being so darn expensive..Like I said, the dealer wanted $79.00+tax and I just got mine today and paid $43.00+ $10.00 shipping.

Anyways..here is what one looks like before installation..
