Re Dalemain event in the Lake District on Aug 19th:-
The Wigton Classic car and Jag day at Dalemain House near Ullswater in Cumbria has been cancelled (Aug 19th) due to the estate owners taking precautions due to the foot and mouth outbreak at the other end of the country.Just had a letter of this notification from JEC Solway region.
Jim if you or anyone else wasgoing dont bother.

Aquill......Its "foot and mouth" disease.
Foot and mouth disease is an infectious disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals, in particular cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and deer. The disease is serious for animal health and for the economics of the livestock industry. While FMD is not normally fatal to adult animals, it is debilitating and causes significant loss of productivity; for example milk yields may drop or the animals may become lame. In young animals it can be fatal on a large scale.
Its pretty bad Aquill...they find that **** an its like ...destroy all animals in the neighbouring area....They do this so that diseased meat does not get into the food chain. In 2001 it badly affected most of the country... Fires everywhere.....thousands of animals killed n burned....movements restricted etc etc

That would be crazy!!! I mean we've been having the whole cow meat problem more lately but weve had other problems like mad cow disease for the last few years but I haven't heard anything about that lately...Canada also had that problem and some of their meat comes to us...but it didn't keep us from doing stuff...thats crazy....kind of like 28 days or night of the living dead stuff!!!
