Plasti dipped my xtype and so glad i did!
#21
Well it's been four months, and my car is still plasti dipped. I drove it from colorado to california in the colorado flooding and hit a puddle going 85. I'm currently lowered on H&R's so my rocker panels got hit pretty damn hard by all the water and it ended up putting a tear in both sides of the plasti dip. So, I just peeled the dip off of my rocker panels and now I have black rockers . If anyone is going to plasti dip an xtype, I would reallllllly recommend removing the side view mirrors or lifting them a little because I am starting to have minor issues with the dip bubbling around those corners. To be honest, I didn't expect this "paint job" to last as long as it has, and it's holding up pretty damn well especially considering this was the first time I've ever tried painting before. The only issue now is that for some reason i get about two people who WALK OVER MY CAR every week. I do not know who is doing this, or why they feel inclined to walk over my car, but the footprints are starting to stain. I've gotten some of them off, but I've still got a few that are noticeable from a couple feet away. Another issue is people seem to sit on the back of my car when we have parties at my place. If they have jeans on, and get a little intimate with someone on the back of my car (again, I do not know why all of this is happening on my car,) it leaves a blue stain on my spoiler. Basically the moral of the story is don't paint it white if you plan on living around a bunch of drunk idiots who like to get busy on the back of your jag. Sure, it still looks good and that's probably why it's getting so much action, but I'm going to repaint it a different color that won't get stained as much... or move somewhere else... haha
