RE: Please Help Me!!!!
Hi wangan and welcome to the forum!
Its usually a nice idea and sorta SOP for new members to introduce themselves in the " new members" section with a little info about them n thier cars before asking for help!
Unfortunatley I cannot help but we have some really good people here who will very shortly probably.
In the meantime I suggest a short intro in the new member section.
Good luck
Jim

RE: Please Help Me!!!!
DAMN..now I can't get the right bonnet latch to release...WTF now???[:@]
I got it to open once more after dicking around with it, having the wife hold the release leverto openwhile I lifted on the bonnet and it finally unlatched...the release catch lets it go when you push down on the latch, so I oiled it up and lookd for anything broken, then closed the bonnet again,Damn, it won't unlatch again...Never happened before, till just now..Any ideas?

RE: Please Help Me!!!!
I think there is nothing complicated about the release mechanism. I replaced my cable when it got rusty and sticky and sometimes would not latch down.
If you can get under the dash, and find a way to pull a little more on the cable (useing pliers or something) It might release the catch.
Id be sure all is ok before closing it again. You can easily click the 2 latched down and then pull on the release lever and they should spring open.
It is sort of hard to see how the cable clips on at both latches but I think you might be able to figure it out.. so far u give me the impression you have some common sense .

Thanks for the vote of confidence..But like You said, I pushed down on the latch while the bonnet was open and the little release catch unlatched it and it spring loaded open like it should..I'm thinking somthing is binding the main latch once it's closed by the bonnet and will not let it spring open....Wifey is out with the car right now and maybe driving around will loosen stuff up enough to open it again and then I'll look closer at the cable, latch, etc..Maybe the cable needs to be tightened by some adjustment to make it shorter..beats me right now..the damn JTIS don't show squat either about it.

Well good luck...this morning on my way to the dealer the little red warning light kept popping on and off and than I pulled to the side of the expressway and checked it out...couldn't find anything got back into the car and the light didn't come on even though I didn't even open the hood again, all i did was make sure it was closed???

RE: Please Help Me!!!!
It's cool..Thanks **** for the concern, it was bound to happen sooner or later..I'm real glad you got your TP all hooked up again..good job mate...
I got my hood latch fixed...The only way to unlatch itif the cable comes off as in my case, is to remove the front lower undertray, (which is held in place by 19 thousand torx head screws[&:]) then reach way up with a tip of your finger, you can spring the latch..Whew!!! took me an hour of poking around before I figured it out..What happened was, the cable popped off the latch which has a little ball fused to the cable and the fed through an eye thingy lever on the latch release..the ends of the cable sheath snap into place on either end of the latch assemby with about two inches of bare cable exposed between the ends with this fused on little ball in the middle..some how the cable endspopped out of their holders and the cable wire and little ballcame out of the latch release lever eye...Anyway did a little squeezing of the part that pinches the cable ends in place and snapped all back together...
However interestingly enough, IMHO, the Bonnet release cable they used in my car is for a Right Hand Drive car (RHD)..assuming the Brits have their Bonnet release on the right side of the car..(Please, anybody with a RHD X, confirm where the bonnet release is)....The cable was not correct for the fitting of the Bonnet latch..You can tell by looking at it, the little ball that is fuse into the cable is backward in relation to which way it pulls on the latch....So I will keep an eye on it in case it works loose again.
