Default Powertrain light for 2004 x type

Hello everyone,

My 2004 jaguar, occasionally from time to time has had the power train light come on.. the car instantaneously goes into low power mode.... I've had my car at my mechanics shop for a month now, they haven't been able to figure out what the issue was... I also had it at a transmission shop and they couldn't figure out the issue either... it happens very sporadically where the power train malfunction light just pops on... and the car goes into low power mode... it's kind of concerning, as my mechanic is very good, the transmission guy, he deals with is also very good... there's no codes popping up when they hook up the scanner.... if anyone could please help me out and tell me if they've had to deal with this issue before, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Does it say Restricted Performance on the message center, or is it the red light with the I in the middle of it?

It's the red ! (Exclamation mark) with the circle around it... aka the power train light..

With no codes to refer to, could be tricky. Have you had any repairs at all previous to this happening, when the Powertrain warning light coming on?

I haven't had any work done, there's literally nothing wrong with it, other than this power train issue... there's gotta be other people out there that had this issue with the x type where the powertrain light would come on and the car would power down.. the transmission is practically brand new... eveything under the hood o believe is in good shape..

Don't recall this fault before but as work has been done it may relate to that.

I've had this warning light come on, but I had codes logged. Did you have the transmission replaced or rebuilt ( you said its practically brand new ) ? The code scanner your mechanic is using, is it just reading ECM, or is it reading ECM and TCM etc. ?

For that light to come on a code would be logged and a JLR/SDD would show intermittent faults in the TCM.

P1582 is a code that tells you that info is being stored and should not be read on it's own as a fault.
P0778 could be caused by Low Fluid level. Dirty Fluid or Harness to the Pressure Solenoid B or Pressure solenoid B Valve current.
