Gordon, open the hood of your car and look at the engine bay near the passenger side tire (for you, driver's side for us Yanks). Look near where the throttlebody is. You should see 2 wire bundles coming down from the throttlebody (one on the side towards the wheel, a second bundle from the engine side of the throttlebody). You are interested in the tire side bundle. Look at that really closely and see if you spot any damage. Look at the wiring up at the plug closely too. There have been issues in the past where the wiring where it goes into the plug has been tugged on and has become damaged, leading to the wiring shorting out and causing all sorts of throttle related issues. After that, I would see what codes the computer has. It may be that you are suffering from a throttlebody failure.

Gordon, like Steve mentions, if you don't have a code reader yet, get the "ELM 327 bluetooth OBD reader". They are like $15 (USD) and the Torque app is free unless you want to spend the $5 (USD) to get the horsepower/torque features. The only "issue" I have found is that it works on 02-early 04 models, but the 05+ vehicles I have not gotten it to work on. Maybe I am missing something, but that is my experience. Otherwise, you can get a stand alone unit for around $100 (USD) that is worthwhile.

Gordon, code P1111 says that everything is fine. That is the "All Good" code. So, whatever is bothering your car is not engine related.
With that being said, if the car has been running fine for the last few days, the car will have cleared the error lighting the light, but should have left the code in the car. But, this does also assume that you have not pulled the fuse for the ECU or disconnected the battery. The only other thing that it could be is if you got a cheaper code reader, it would only read the engine codes and not the other 3 types of codes and what you are seeing is more of a tranny issue and that is tossing the car into "Limp mode" to allow you to get to a safe place without pushing the tranny too hard.

Gordon, from the sounds of things, you have a fault code inside the tranny computer. The cheap code readers will not access those codes in most cases. These would be codes that start with something other than "P".
You can try erasing the codes, but all that you are going to do is to force the car to go through a drive cycle to verify everything. Not going to hurt anything. The big thing is trying to make the car turn on the check engine light so you can get a code to read.
