Problems
Hi all
I bought my 2002 X-Type Jaguar 6 months ago and it turns out when it had it's WOF through the dealer Beachams Penrose they had missed A) The adjusting screws on the drivers side headlight were broken, B) The Headlight Levelling switch doesn't work because apparently the push knob was jammed in, still is C) The power steering unit is leaking of which I had informed the dealer 3-4 months after I bought the car, it is still under warranty but unfortunately after the massive problems I had trying to get the dealer to replace the transponders which took Beachams 4 months, and when the transponders did finally arrive they order the wrong Mhz on one of the transponders. I ended up going to Archibald because their technician in Penrose branch didn't seem to know what he was doing. So people can anybody on this forum help me, to locate A) A secondhand headlight levelling switch, B) Adjusting headlight screws, and can the power steering leak be easly fixed. My biggest mistake was to purchase my $13,000.00 2002 Jaguar X-Type.... absolute heap of dog-poo!
I can't take it back to Beachams because I don't want to go through months of trauma like the last time, I hope nobody else has experience what I did since I have purchased this vehical.

I just replaced the tire rack on mine because of a huge leak of power steering. Part was 600, 600 labour. I had the exact same issues with headlights as well. Drilled holes, threaded a copper wire through the plastic and around to immobilize the headlight. Silicon to seal and then I was able to adjust headlights prior to it drying. The headlights were so loose that I was going through a new bulb every 4 months.
Spent 3.5k on it, 2k in repairs each year. Anything more and it might be time to part ways with my favourite car.

THanks to you all for your input, it was actually $11,990.00 nz dollars, sorry I got the price wrong lol. it has done 84k. I really appreciate all your help. I must admit I was very green as far as Jaguars are concerned just the right person to be sucked in by a vulture. I would like to add Amba from Ken Stout Motors gave me heaps of help.

My vehicle has H I D lights, Zenons, because of that for me to get a WOF I have to replace the inside headlight leveller, can one use ordinary bulbs because if I can use ordinary bulbs I wouldn't need the headlight leveller switch aparently, has anybody else come across this problem on a 2002 X-Type Jaguar to gain a WOF?

Hi All
Well it is all good news about my headlight leveller switch, I decided to have a go at it myself today to see if I can fix it, well it took me awhile but I have saved $578.00 for a new switching unit.
All I did was to take the switch apart once I got out of the Jag, I took it inside my house and studied the mechanism, there are two springloaded switches, one for the dimmer for the panel and the other to operate the headlight leveller motor with numbers from 1-4 so one can move the head lights up and down according to how much load there is in the car, the lower number is for only the driver etc.
The headlight push in mechanism was brocken, so all I did was to change the too push switches over, set the dimmer to my prefered brightness, and then tested the
headlight leveller on all four numbers, hey presto I could see the headlight move up and down, FIXED!
