quad exhaust,my x-type projects and installs

decided to do quad exhaust in the rear
heres the tips

then i cut the tips of the stock muffler with a saw zaw,
then welded the new ones on

i orded them from ebay , i tried a few differant ones till i found the one i liked
cost me $60 ,i wanted to keep the muffler stock and quiet
i have a mazda rx7 which is load,so i wanted one car which was quiet

pretty simple job took about 2hours

Looks good! Of course, changing the actual mufflers would be far more expensive than just changing tips, and I assume the 1300USD ones you saw were made by Arden ($$$). If you don't want to alter the exhaust note, changing just the tips is certainly the better method as it looks the same unless viewed from underneath

They are in shipment currently. It took a bit longer than I expected, but that's because I wanted oval tips (the same shape as the originals, not "racetrack"-oval like they have on their site) and it took them some time to find suitable ones. It's possible they had them made, not sure.
They sent me a photo of the alternatives, the ones on the left are the size of the Borla tips and the ones on the left are the size of the X-Type OEM accessory tips. I chose the ones on the right:

I'd imagine/hope they would arrive during this week, partly because I'm impatient and partly because I was thinking I'd have them fitted as I take the car in to have block & interior heaters fitted. Finland's getting colder as we speak...
