Radio doesn't work but everything else does

Hello,
I own a 2004 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 with touchscreen navigation, radio, climate etc. I live in the US so my steering wheel is on the left side of the vehicle. About a year ago, my radio starting doing this weird thing where I would start my car and the CD player would buzz for a good minute or so, then it turned into when I turn the car on there is an hour glass on the right side of the touch screen load screen that then turns into "communication fault, please consult your dealer". Ever since I have gotten that message, sometimes the radio works, most of the time it doesn't. My stereos also sound weird when the radio works, I have to turn it up to volume level 20+ just to be able to hear the radio with my windows down. Also, the clock shows no time. However, everything else besides the radio works all of the time. I can control the climate, and everything else. Just the radio is the problem. I have no idea what to do to fix this. Please help! It has turned my drives with friends into awkward silent car rides. And I can't take it anymore. Thanks!

Brandon, from the sounds of things, the radio portion of your head unit has bitten the dust. Your best bet would be to find a wrecked car and pull the stereo out of that toss it into your car. It will cost you say $100, but it should resolve all your issues.
The other option is to send the radio out to a shop to have them fix the radio portion, but that is going to be a $200 bill easy most likely.

Brandon, the screen/radio/CD player/etc are all one big module. You will undo like 4 plugs on the back of the radio and it will all come out.
I am sure that if you got another radio and desired to tear things apart and only swap out the radio portion, you could end up doing that. But, this is something that I would only recommend someone with some electronics training do as you can easily damage a circuit board just by touching it (static electricity is capable of damaging the electronics components).

Check the fiber optic cable between your screen and the DVD unit in the Trunk
also there is a connection for the fiber optic cable just above your left foot while sitting in the drivers seat (USA) take a look at this connection.
Do you have the Alpine system with the AMP in the trunk?
what year map cd do you have?
